Eastwood Continues Its Commitment to Closing the Skills Gap and Supporting Communities

Over the past year, Eastwood has remained committed to making a positive impact beyond project delivery, continuing its mission to support local communities and help address the skills gap facing the construction and infrastructure sectors.

Building on relationships with local education establishments, Eastwood have continued to create opportunities for young people to gain valuable insight into careers within the built environment. Through apprenticeship initiatives, networking events, STEM activities and work experience placements, the business is helping to inspire future talent and demonstrate the diverse opportunities available across the industry.

Recent activities have included participation in the University of Sheffield's Placements in Yorkshire networking event, volunteering at Get up to Speed with STEM, supporting the Girl Guides' City Scapes Adventure programme and engaging with initiatives that promote greater diversity within the sector. Eastwood has also continued to provide work experience opportunities for school students, alongside undergraduate and graduate placements, helping bridge the gap between education and employment.

Alongside its focus on skills and education, Eastwood remains dedicated to supporting the communities in which it works. Throughout the year, employees have taken part in a wide range of fundraising and sponsorship activities in support of local and national charities.

From children's hospices and hospitals to homelessness charities, foodbanks and youth sports organisations, Eastwood's support has reached a variety of causes that make a meaningful difference to people's lives. Colleagues have participated in charity runs, fundraising events, coffee mornings, sporting challenges and seasonal collections, while also providing practical support to community groups through donations and pro bono assistance.

These activities reflect Eastwood's belief that corporate responsibility is not defined by individual events but by a sustained commitment to people and communities over time. Whether supporting a young person taking their first steps into the industry or helping raise funds for a local charity, every initiative contributes towards a wider goal of creating positive social value.

As the year continues, Eastwood remains focused on the same principles that have guided its community engagement efforts to date: supporting future talent, championing education and skills development, and giving back to the communities that support the business. By continuing these efforts, the company aims to play its part in helping build stronger communities and a more sustainable future for the industry.
