Project overview

Chobham Manor is the first of five neighbourhoods being created at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford, East London.

Located between picturesque parklands and world-class sporting facilities, this unique neighbourhood offers residents a community like no other with residents benefiting from the very best sporting and cultural amenities.

In partnership with the London Legacy Development Corporation, Chobham Manor is being delivered by Chobham Manor LLP, a joint venture between national house builder Taylor Wimpey and L&Q Housing Trust.

Eastwood’s services

Eastwood were appointed as Civil and Structural Design Engineers on Phases 3 and 4 of this exciting new development. Phases 3 and 4 comprised of a mixture of reinforced concrete framed multi-storey structures and lower rise buildings constructed from traditional masonry.

The 8 blocks of units were predominantly for residential use, but with some commercial space and also a community nursery.

Our team provided foundation design, design of reinforced concrete frames, external works and drainage, pulling together our structural and civil teams, supported by our BIM designers and technicians.

Innovative solutions

Due to the significant curvature of one of the residential buildings, the team were unable to use traditional construction methods to achieve the required architectural finish, whilst ensuring appropriate structural stability and durability.

Eastwood worked in collaboration with the architect and manufacturer to develop and test a novel masonry support system, enabling the construction of the stunning geometric fascia’s seen across the Chobham Manor site.
“We were delighted to be part of the first Olympic legacy neighbourhood to be developed in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. It was a pleasure as always to work with our valued client Taylor Wimpey, who have created stunning homes and a community which embraces the Olympic legacy, already one of London’s most sought after addresses”.
