Goole Market Hall Reopens After £4 Million Transformation

Historic Goole Market Hall has officially reopened after a £4 million redevelopment, marking an important milestone in the Goole Town Deal programme and the wider regeneration of the town centre.

The Victorian Market Hall has been sensitively refurbished and adaptively reused, transforming the historic building into a vibrant food and drink venue with flexible events space. Now operated under Brew York’s ‘Brew+’ brand, the venue has quickly become a popular destination since opening on 2 April, with live music and events drawing strong weekend footfall and creating a lively, welcoming atmosphere.

Eastwood were appointed as civil and structural engineers for the refurbishment and adaptive reuse of the building.

The structural design included the introduction of three new steel-framed kiosks and associated lighting trellis’, as well as a two-storey mezzanine supported on the existing structure to maximise internal space while working within the constraints of the original structure. In addition, Eastwood designed new external steelwork canopies and supports for the feature curtain walling, enhancing both the functionality and visual appeal of the venue’s perimeter spaces. Eastwood also conducted a condition survey and detailed remedial works to restore this historical structure back to its former glory.

From a civil engineering perspective, the scope also encompassed drainage design and external works, ensuring the site could effectively accommodate increased visitor numbers and operate as a modern, high-performing public venue.

Close coordination with the wider design team was essential throughout, particularly in balancing heritage considerations with contemporary performance requirements.

Eastwood is proud to have contributed to the successful delivery of this landmark scheme, helping to revitalise a key historic asset and create a dynamic new hub for the Goole community.
